Irrigation of garden peas on a good cropping soil

Pages 233-236 | Received 18 Mar 1977, Published online: 24 Jan 2012

Abstract

Irrigation applied by the border strip method gave no benefit in the vegetative phase even when soil moisture fell to near wilting point. From the start of flowering, optimum irrigation level when the top 150 mm of soil fell to 15% moisture (23% available). This required either 2 or 3 irrigations depending on the season. Irrigation responses were less than those obtained on a shallow soil.
