Coping Strategies, Personal Control and Childbirth

Abstract

The use of personal coping strategies in labour was investigated using qualitative analysis of a series of interviews with newly delivered mothers (n=60). A high level of use of personal coping strategies was observed. A significant relationship was found between use of personal coping strategies and feelings of personal control in labour.
