Abstract

During the last thirty years the concept of Type A behaviour has received increasing attention in professional journals particularly in the area of health psychology. Widespread research support for the construct was obtained initially but recently some doubt about its validity has been expressed. This article traces the origins of the Type A behaviour construct, examines some of the major research findings relating to it, and raises issues to be addressed in future research.
