Abstract
Barry, an orthopaedic surgeon, and John Garde, a teacher of meditation, are both concerned with healing and have observed the close relationship between physical symptoms and emotional states. They have studied under entirely different traditions which use different languages. In an attempt to bridge the gulf and express themselves in terms that the other could understand, Barry and John spent two hours talking to each other.
