FURTHER EXPERIMENTS WITH THIABENDAZOLE (TBZ) FOR CONTROL OF DUTCH ELM DISEASE

Pages 191-201 | Published online: 27 Mar 2012

Summary

In further trials on elms showing early symptoms of Dutch elm disease, additional evidence was obtained on the efficacy of 60 gm TBZ per 30 cm circumference when applied as 20: 1 of 0.3% a.i. Reduced volumes with the same dosage of fungicide gave inconclusive results. In a protective trial the 60 gm treatment completely prevented disease symptoms in artificially inoculated trees, while with a lower rate (20gms) inoculated branches wilted but the trees subsequently recovered.
