A survey of the bacterial flora of the feet of free‐living goshawks (Accipiter gentilis)

Summary

The feet of goshawks (Accipiter gentilis) were swabbed. Bacteriological examination demonstrated that the feet were colonised by organisms from many genera some of which were recognised avian pathogens.

Des prélèvements ont été faits sur les pattes d'autours sauvages. L'examen bactériologique de ces prélèvements a révélé des colonies d'organismes d'espèces très variées, entre autres des agents pathogènes aviaires (Staphylococcus aureus et Pseudomonas).

Zusammenfassung

Es wurden Abstriche von den Füβen des Hühnerhabichts (Accipiter gentilis) genommen. Ihre bakteriologische Untersuchung ergab das Vorhandensein vieler Keimgattungen, von denen einige als Vogelpathogene bekannt sind.
