Abstract

The creative tool-kit for photographers today is a rich and varied one. In a time when digital imaging is becoming ubiquitous, many artists are returning to the use of nineteenth century photographic techniques such as the photogram, daguerreotype and tintype. Other contemporary practitioners mix the use of alternative and classic photographic processes. Two recent books explore this phenomenon and make companionable reading.
