A Carboniferous fauna from Rawdon Vale, New South Wales

Abstract

A brachiopod-bivalve fauna from the Faulkland Formation of the Rawdon Vale Region, N.S.W., is determined as late Visean-early Namurian age. The age and palaeoecology of the fauna are discussed. Taxa described include the brachiopods: Orbiculoidea subcircularis sp. nov., Linoproductus (Balakhonia) rawdonvalensis sp. nov., L. (Linoproductus) kerripitensis sp. nov., Beecheria boranelensis sp. nov. and B. subrotundatus sp. nov., and bivalves: Aviculopecten jemsensis sp. nov., Myofossa hookesensis sp. nov., Pleurophorella knowlaensis sp. nov., P. sp., Nuculopsis muddlesensis sp. nov., Schizodus dilgryensis sp. nov. and Oriocrassatella sp.
