Abstract
A sequence of Campanian dinoflagellates recorded from the exploration well Pisces-1 in the Gippsland Basin is compared with material recovered from two dredge samples from the continental slope of the same region. The Campanian sequence from Pisces-1 is the most complete so far examined from the basin, and it provides a reference for local correlations. Assemblages studied are assigned to the Isabelidinium korojonense Zone (Helby et al., 1987) and a new biounit named the Satyrodinium haumuriense Zone. Five new species are described: Canningia bassensis sp. nov., Gillinia pyriformis sp. nov., Senoniasphaera edenensis sp. nov., Chatangiella packhamii sp. nov., and Isabelidinium greenense sp. nov.
