The “Bulletin Affair”: Social Work Under Siege

Pages 3-6 | Published online: 15 Apr 2008

Abstract

The article takes as Its focus the recent and controversial discussion of social work practice that appeared in the BULLETIN. It argues that, in the guise of deploring the increasing Marxist influence on social work activity, the BULLETIN article in fact functions to discredit the entire profession. In a time of cutbacks in health and social welfare services, such an account of the profession carries distinct political consequences which need to be recognized and resisted by all social workers.
