Situational Leadership In Social Work Practice

Pages 7-13 | Published online: 15 Apr 2008

Abstract

This paper provides a model for selecting social work intervention strategies according to the maturity of the client with respect to tasks to be performed. The model sees the social worker as a person with expert knowledge whose responsibility is to provide appropriate leadership to the client in the attainment of agreed upon objectives. The leadership style adopted by the worker is the prime determinant of the outcome of his intervention.
