Abstract
The growth of literature and social work practice in the area of social networks has tended to overshadow any appreciable consideration of the quality of these potential supports. This paper indicates how client and worker may differ in their understanding of appropriate social support. Further mention is made of the type of effort required to sustain supportive relationship once they have been built.
