Crisis on the Farm: A Telephone Survey of Rural Stress

Pages 9-13 | Published online: 15 Apr 2008

Abstract

In March 1987 a two day phone-in on rural stress was conducted in Adelaide, South Australia. The phone-in elicited an overwhelming response from the rural community in all parts of South Australia. The findings highlighted very high levels of stress amongst the callers along with associated physical and psychological ill health. In the present paper attention is drawn to the implications of these findings for rural social workers.
