This article attempts to give a practical account of crisis intervention as we have experienced it, over many years in hospital social work practice. We have developed consistencies in the way we all work, based on theory, and thought our experience might be of assistance to those entering this field of work. Some suggestions for further reading are given, some of which have been referred to in the text.
