Marital Casework: Option or Necessity? A Case-study in the Dilemma of the Social Work Profession

Pages 3-13 | Published online: 15 Apr 2008

Abstract

This paper argues that casework has been neglected by the social work profession in Australia in recent years; casework is unfashionable and of relatively low status. Marital casework is taken as a case-study in support of this proposition. The paper reviews the nature and significance of marital problems in Australia, and the appropriateness of marital casework as a response.
