The Politics of Peace and Conflict Studies: Social work skills affecting organisations' processes, priorities and project outcomes

Pages 19-25 | Published online: 15 Apr 2008

Abstract

The creation of a Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies in a large bureaucracy depended on social work skills to combine divergent interests for a common purpose, manage conflict and link personal considerations to global issues. These skills are seen as crucial, not only in negotiations for nuclear disarmament, but also in facilitating personal development and creativity within any organisation.
