Abstract
Following motor vehicle accidents in which serious injuries, or death occur, those who survive can encounter psychological, emotional and behavioural reactions. Identifying and treating these reactions is an essential component of acute medical care. This article outlines how medical social workers assisting injured individuals following road trauma can combine practice theory with the principles of crisis intervention and trauma management.
