A question of justice

Pages 37-39 | Accepted 01 Apr 1997, Published online: 01 Feb 2008

Abstract

This article analyses the ethical dilemmas I faced while working in the Vietnamese detention centres in Hong Kong and attempts to shed some light on the difficulties I encountered in trying to reach the high ground of moral theory while working in the swamp of practice'. The two ethical issues investigated are self-determination and social justice. Both demonstrate the dilemma of integrating theory and practice.
