R.A. Whitaker

R.A. WHITAKER is Chief of Regional Economic and Social Statistics, Central Statistics Bureau, Ministry of Industry and Small Business Development, in Victoria, British Columbia. He holds a B.A. degree in Geography from the University of Exeter, a M sc from Pennsylvania State University, and a PHD fronl the University of British Columbia. Apart from interests in location problems he works on projects related to small area data generation and the design and development of regional management information systems.

Paul Vincent

PAUL VINCENT is currently a senior Defence Sciefitist with the Operational Research and Analysis Establishment (ORAE) of National Defence. He received a BSC (1966) and MSC (1967) from the University of Ottawa and a PHD (1973) from the University of Rochester. After a few years of teaching at the University de Moncton and project management with Supply Services Canada, he joined ORAE, where his current interests are in the area of inventory control.

Gerd Finke

GERD EINKE is currently Associate Professor ini the Departments of Applied Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at the Technical University of Nova Scotia, Halifax. He completed his PH D in mathematics at the University of Kiel (Germany) in 1969 and; has been on the faculty of the Technical University since then. His research papers have appeared in INFOR. Operations Research, Mathematical Programming, Zeitschrift fiir Operations Research, and Methods of Operations Research. Professor Einke’s recent research activities have centred on transportation and transshipment models.

Richard Loulou

RICHARD LOULOU graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, paris, then obtained a PHD in Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley (1971) and a Doctorat d’Etat in applied mathematics from Universite de Grenoble (1978). Erom 1970 he was assistant professor and is now associate professor in McGill University’s Eaculty of Management. His research focuses on stochastic systems, combinatorial analysis, and energy modelling.

Henrik Juel

HENRIK JUEL received his PH D in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin. He has held positions at Michigan Institute of Technology, Virginia Institute of Technology, and Odense University, Denmark, and is Associate Professor at Soenderborg School of Economics and Business Administration, Denmark. He has published a dozen articles in Operations Research, The Journal of the Operational Research Society, Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, Transportation Science, and other journals. His main research interest is location theory.

Robert Love

ROBERT F. LOVE is currently a professor of management science at McMaster University, formerly at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, and a PH D from the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. He has published over forty articles in leading management science and industrial engineering journals in the areas of facilities location, queueing theory, inventory models, and applications of integer programming. His current research interests include facilities location problems and merger theory. He is a member of TIMS, ORSA, CORS, and the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.

J.S.H. Kornbluth

JONATHAN KORNBLUTH teaches Operations Research at the Jerusalem School of Business Administration, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel. He has his PH D in OR from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London and has been a visiting professor at the Decision Sciences Department of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. His research interests centre around the applications of multiple objective programming techniques, particularly in areas of fractional programming, finance, accounting, and long-range planning.
