Application Of Information Economics Paradigm And Empirical Approach In The Evaluation Of Microcomputer-Based Decision Support Systems

Pages 169-177 | Received 01 Oct 1985, Published online: 25 May 2016

Abstract

This paper examines the feasibility of using the information economics concepts and empirical approach in the evaluation of microcomputer-based decision aid models. It is shown that the evaluation of decision support systems should ideally be performed based on the value of information generated for specific decisions, that is, within the information economics framework. Unfortunately, because of complexities involved, such evaluations are not currently feasible for those decision support systems aimed at solving ill-stmctured problems. It is concluded that such decision support systems should be evaluated in empirical context.
