Swedish iron ore and German steel 1939–40

Pages 133-144 | Published online: 20 Dec 2011

Abstract

This article attempts to examine the dependence of the German steel industry on Swedish iron ore during the initial stages of the Second World War. Earlier work has clearly adopted far too simplistic a view of the problem. A more finely detailed picture can be derived from a study of the condition of the German steel industry.
