Abstract
The review of my book on Peasant Destinies 1 by Carl-Johan Gadd in SEHR, XXVI ( 1978), pp. 188–191, contains a number of unjustified statements and outright errors which I feel obliged to challenge. It asserts that many of my findings appear to be based upon insufficient evidence. This is a serious charge: it would need evidence to refute it.
