Proto-Industrialisation — an economic historical figment?

Abstract

The concept of proto-industrialisation took shape during the 1970s and since then has increasingly come into use in order to explain the process of economic development in Europe. An entire session is to be devoted to it at the Eighth International Economic History Congress in Budapest in August 1982.
