Abstract

The present communication concerns the investigation of the effect of various concentrations of Altosid(R) and Altozar(R), J.H.A., on the biosynthesis of proteins and RNA in cultures of shrimp larvae in vivo measured by the uptake up Leucine, U‐14C and Uridine‐2‐14C.

The incorporation of Leucine follows different behaviour in the presence of either 0.01 or 1 ppm concentration of J.H.A.

At any dose Altosid(R) and Altozar(R) decrease the protein synthesis in the larvae of shrimps also at concentrations of 0.01 ppm, the main dose used for their application. In fact in these condition the synthesis of proteins is lower than in the control.

For the RNA biosynthesis the uptake of Uridine is much higher in the presence of J.H.A. then in the control.

It is suggested then an abnormals‐RNA is formed in the first hours, which does not synthetize proteins.
