Abstract

Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were grafted with polyolefin elastomer (POE) and then were coated on carbon fiber substrates to improve the reinforcing effect of carbon fiber/ Polyolefin elastomer copolymer (POE) composite(CF/POE/POE-CNT). The tensile strength and impact strength of the CF/POE/POE-CNT composites increased, showing the efficiency of POE-CNT coating on the carbon fiber. SEM of fracture morphology indicated that the failure mode is different for the CF/POE/CNT composites after the addition of POE-CNT.
