Fluorinated Poly(arylene ether-1,3,4-oxadiazole)s Containing a 4-Bromophenyl Pendant Group and Its Phosphonated Derivatives: Synthesis, Spectroscopic Characterization, Thermal and Dielectric Studies

, , &

Abstract

The synthesis and characterization of new fluorinated poly(arylene ether 1,3,4-oxadiazole) with a 4-bromophenyl pendant group (8F-PAEOx-Br) have been investigated, these pendant 4-bromophenyl group provides respective phosphonated derivatives from a straightforward palladium catalysed synthetic route. Molecular structural characterization of all the monomers and polymers was achieved by FT-IR, NMR and analytical techniques. The gel permeation chromatography (GPC) shows the weight-average molecular weight (M w ) of 8F-PAEOx-Br was 81100 (M w/M n = 2.42). Thermal properties of all the polymers were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Dielectric properties were performed for compressed polymer tablets and results were discussed.
