On the robustness of recursive outlier detection procedures to nonnormality

Abstract

The robustness of recursive outlier detection procedures ESD, RST, and KUR to symmetric nonnormal distributions is considered. Their powers when samples are drawn from normal and nonnormal distributions are compared. The actual alpha levels are also computed and compared with the nominal alpha levels.
