Abstract

Consider k normal populations with common unknown mean μ and unknown variances . A bounded length confidence interval for μ is considered, using a two stage sampling scheme. In the first stage the sample sizes are equal for all k populations. In the second stage, all observations, if any, are taken from the population which yielded the smallest sample variance in the first stage.
