Forensics shock: Making forensics relevant to tomorrow's higher education

Pages 235-241 | Published online: 18 May 2009

Abstract

The continuing debate over the role of forensics in departments of speech communication takes on more urgency in the context of newly felt economic pressures and changes in emphasis in the academic departments which support forensics. Directors of forensics should therefore re‐examine their objectives and align their programs with the aims of their supporting departments. In addition to strengthening their curricular ties, forensics directors should consider undertaking more research projects and public programs.
