“Jenny and Ken” — A teacher‐developed case study in human liberation

Abstract

A need exists for students to explore the options for self‐actualization without the risk of the real situation. This article presents the case study “Jenny and Ken,” developed for use in the study of self‐awareness and identity. A description of the utilization of the case over a two‐year period in various versions follows. Students found it less threatening to discuss Jenny's and Ken's problems, which involve society's changing values and individuals’ changing roles, than to be directly confronted with their own.
