Student literature preferences in the basic oral interpretation course

Pages 93-131 | Published online: 18 May 2009

Abstract

In oral interpretation classes, the students' choices of literature play a large part in determining the shape of the course. This study investigates the number and types of all materials presented in twenty oral interpretation classes taught over a five year period. The study indicates the most popular authors and literature presented in these classes. The discussion probes some of the reasons underlying the students' choices and the implications these choices have for oral interpretation teachers.
