Abstract

A field study was conducted to explore the possibility that inclusive results of studies of self‐concept change during the basic course might be explained by the relationship of age, educational classification, sex, or grade to self‐concept change. Stepwise multiple regression was used to determine whether these variables accounted for a significant portion of the variance in final self‐concept and final ideal self‐concept scores. The results were: (1) Age and educational classification did not account for a significant portion of the variance. (2) Sex accounted for a significant portion of the variance. (3) Grade in course accounted for a significant portion of the variance of final self‐concept scores.
