Identifying the communication specialist: Implications for career educationFootnote1

The present study was undertaken to ascertain what practicing communication specialists do as well as what they perceive to be important skills for future communication specialists to obtain. Based on the respondents’ job descriptions, two types of communication specialists were identified: journalists and trainers. Implications for the academic preparation of each type of communication specialist are included.
