Communication apprehension in basic public speaking texts; an examination of contemporary textbooks

Pages 41-53 | Published online: 18 May 2009

Abstract

Twenty five public speaking textbooks were examined in order to determine how the subject of communication apprehension is addressed in contemporary texts. The present study, much like the results of an earlier examination, discerned differences, and most often, commonalities in how the subject of CA is addressed in introductory public speaking textbooks. Data presented may be useful for course administrators and instructors of public speaking classes in the important and difficult task of textbook selection.
