Abstract

In describing the interface between development and Instructional Communication, this article first outlines the theoretical underpinnings and methodologies involved in the developmental perspective for communication research. Several major developmental research trends in the general area of communication are discussed next. Four predominant lines of instructional communication research are reviewed and analyzed from a developmental perspective. Finally, this article suggests openning new lines of research for instructional communication scholars which incorporate the developmental aspects of the educational experience.
