Rhetoric in England: The age of Aelfric, 970–1020

Abstract

The Benedictine Revival (970–1020) witnessed the greatest renaissance of learning during the Anglo‐Saxon period in England. The focus of this paper is upon these fifty years and particularly upon the sources and manuscripts available to one of the leading prose writers of his age, Aelfric.
