Abstract

In a three‐years pot experiment the influence of K‐fertilization on K‐parameters of soils, collected from different plots of the long‐term fertility experiment (since 1937) belong to the experimental station Thyrow (Humboldt‐University Berlin) was tested. The main results are: K fertilizatiopn significantly increased the amounts of both watersoluble and exchangeable K (acetate extraction), but reserve K (HCL extraction) was hardly influenced.

A positive linear correlation was found between the K‐uptake by plants and the added amounts of K‐fertilizer, i.e. the K‐requirements of plants were mainly realized by fertilizer‐K. Soil‐K were predominantly taken up from the exchangable pool. The amount was affected by the initial content of the labile K‐pool and the amount of fertilizers.

Former yield depressions observed in the field under long‐term K‐deficiency were completely eliminated within the first year of fertilization in the pot experiment.
