Abstract

In this article the results of three experiments with herbs are presented. In these experiments herbs were sown on a lowland bog soil into a gras‐grown proving ground. The aim was to get results about fitness and perseverance of special herbs. The experiment showed that the special herbs and also mixtures of herbs had a different influence on quality and yield. Furthermore, botanical changes and changes in feed quality were observed. Environmental conditions have an influence on growth and development of herbs. Studies were carried out on the relationship between various numbers of cuts in a year and perseverance and survival. Behavior of herbs in respect of Ellenberg indicator value for nitrogen was also inspected. Mixtures of seed should contain predominantly such herbs that are typical for the respective site and contain persevering species. It is advisable to choose for seeding a combination of self‐mixed species.
