Abstract
The results published here were obtained in the International Organic Long‐term Fertilization Experiment (IOSDV) containing a crop rotation of maize‐winter wheat‐winter barley. The total yields of all 4 rotations, the simplified N balances and the rate of N utilization of the second, the third and the fourth rotations are presented. The correlation between N doses and yields were very close and of high significance at the winter cereals, but at maize they were rather weak. On average in the second, the third and the fourth rotation the simplified N balances of all N treatments (including N0, N1, N2, N3 and N4) produced total N values between —170 and +316 kg/ha at the treatment without organic matter applying fertilizers only (I.); ‐54 and + 142kg/ha at the treatment applying farmyard manure + mineral fertilizers (II.) and ‐73 and 521 kg/ ha at the treatment applying straw and green manure + mineral fertilizers (III.), respectively.
The rate of N utilization from N‐fertilization and from organic manuring in absolute values was rather low. At N‐fertilization it varied between 19% and 42% depending on the type of organic manuring and the rate of N‐fertilization. The N utilization rate of straw manuring at highest N doses was very low.
