The daily dietary intakes of unsettled nomadic adults have been observed by the author. The intake of major nutrients based on published analytical values has been calculated and compared with the recommended levels suggested by both the NAS and the FAO/WHO joint Committees. Intakes of calories protein, calcium, phosphorous, iron, thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin appeared to be adequate. The intakes of vitamin A and ascorbic acid were lower than the recommended figures. However, the settled tribes of nomads could be more at risk nutritionally than the unsettled nomads. Tea, sugar, and bread are substituting for animal products, and are the major daily staple foods.
