Behavior modification techniques are presented through the concept of structured and unstructured eating at a day treatment obesity facility, Structure House. Structured eating and length of time at follow‐up were found to predict those clients who lost or maintained treatment weight loss at a six month follow‐up. Degree of voluntary attendance at nutrition education activities did not predict future weight loss. Implications of treatment design from the observed phenomena are presented.
