This is the first of two studies concerning the nutrition of Arab camel nomads. It describes their food habits, the supply of basic foodstuffs and the different methods of processing and preserving food. It also gives details of the preparation of meals, one of the main tasks of the women. The second paper which follows provides data on the nutritional value of the staple foods of the nomads.
