The aim of this study was to compare mortality rates and the consumption of foodstuffs from CHD in 17 autonomous regions of Spain. The most consistent result was the high negative correlation between mortality rate from CHD and meat intake. The negative correlations between total fat, olive oil, milk intakes and CHD mortality were not significant when Canary Island data were excluded.
