Minilivestock encompasses vertebrates and invertebrates which can be produced on a sustainable basis as food, feed or revenue. Animals most often used today are rodents (like Thryonomys sp., Cricetomys sp., Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris. Capromys. Agouti paca) and guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus), frogs, giant snails (Achatina sp. and Archachatina sp.) manure worms (Eisenia fetida, Eudrilus eugeniae,…) and insects (butterflies, termites). Scientific knowledge is available, but the time now is ripe to consider education and training in minilivestock and classical domestic livestock alike.
