With 3 figures and 1 table in the text

Pages 469-477 | Published online: 01 Dec 2017

Summary

Under suitable conditions Atyaephyra desmaresti (Mill.) may reach maturity in one year and produce up to a few hundred eggs, but if conditions are not suitable they hibernate a second time and become bigger. The two-winter-old females will then carry a much bigger number of eggs, up to about one thousand or more. The sexual period falls between the end of April and the end of July. The one year old as well as the two year old shrimps die off after they have had their sexual period.
