Summary

The water level of Lake Trasimeno (Umbria — Italy) has dropped as a result of several years of low rainfall and a canal cut in 1898. Recently three streams have been diverted into the lake. The influence of these on the water-level is forecast and the possible effect on the swamp communities discussed.
