The use of an air-lift in freshwater bottom sampling A comparison with the Ekman bottom sampler

Summary

A simple construction of an air-lift has been used all year around in a mountain lake in Norway. Cold does not affect the sampling and the air-lift sampling is less time consuming than with the Ekman bottom sampler. Samples can be taken from different sediment strata. On not homogeneous bottom it is more effective.
