Summary
The monimolimnia of meromictic lakes are usually void of metazoan life. The only multicellular animals found in this very special environment are resting copepodids of cyclopoid copepods.
The present study shows the occurrence and distribution of resting stages of Cyclops scutifer, Mesocyclops oithonoides, and M. leuckarti in four meromictic lakes in Southern Norway.
Resting copepodids were found regularly in the bottom mud in the deepest part of the monimolimnion. In most cases the density was relatively small in the deepest part, and the majority of individuals were concentrated close to the upper limit of the stagnant water layers. Resting stages were mostly absent from the bottom above the monimolimnion.
Differences were found in the pattern of distribution among the species studied as shown in Fig. 1.

В монимолимнионе меромиктлческих озер Metazoa обычно отсутствуют. Единст¬венными представителями многоклеточных животных, обнаруженных в этой специ¬фической среде, были покоящиеся стадии копеподитов Cyclopoida.
В настоящем сообщении показаны встречаемость и распределение покоящихся стадий Cyclops scutifer, Mesocyclops oithonoides я M. leuckarti в четырех меромикти- ческих озерах южной Норвегии.
Покоящиеся стадии копеподитов обычно обнаруживали в донном иле самой глу¬бокой части монимолимниона. В большинстве случаев их плотность здесь относительно невелика, причем большинство особей концентрируется у верхней границы непере- мешиваемых слоев воды. Как правило, на грунтах выше монимолимниона покоящиеся стадии отсутствовали.
