Summary
Two small rivers in the province of Granada (South Spain) have been surveyed, one of them showing heavy organic pollution from olive residues coming from olive-oil factories, and the other one being free from it. From December 1975 to May 1977 samples were taken every 20 days and several parameters were estimated, concerned to water chemistry, epilithic chlorophyll and bacterial, algal (diatoms) and bottom fauna populations. Some preliminary data presented referred to nutrients and chlorophyll, which show considerable differences between both rivers.
