Summary

Species composition and abundance of zooplankton and zoobenthos were analysed in the littoral zone of two trophically different lakes: Bialskie and Piaseczno. The occurrence of 261 species (124 zooplankton and 137 zoobenthos species) was stated. A fairly high number of species, indicators of water trophy was found in both lakes. In Lake Piaseczno species preferring oligo- and mesotrophic waters and in Lake Bialskie species living in eutrophic waters predominated. Species composition of fauna in the littoral zone of both lakes was differentiated. Only agricultural sectors had a similar population structure. Most species of high abundance occurred in them.

The results of studies show that eutrophication processes go faster in Lake Bialskie than in Lake Piaseczno.
